About Battersby Driving School
Battersby Driving School is owned and operated by Mark Battersby. Mark is passionate about equipping new young drivers with the skills and attitude to stay safe when they get their P’s. New drivers between the ages of 18 and 25 represent 30% of deaths in Victoria alone. When you consider that our road toll now averages about 300 deaths per year that tranlates to approximately one death of a person aged between 18 and 25 every 4 days. Not to mention the countless serious injuries that affect lives everyday.
Our young people are simply not being given the tools to safe out there when they get their P’s. At Battersby Driver Training advanced hazard perception and decision making skills are taught in basic on road learner driver training. Training is offered in all driving conditions and environments. This includes country driving where correct cornering and speed control techniques are taught. It is a sobering reality that many deaths and serious injuries occur in crashes on our country roads.
Unfortunately many learner drivers obtain their probationary licence with very little country driving experience. This results in that they are often really not equipped to negotiate the dangers present on our country roads. Learner drivers throughout the eastern suburbs of Melbourne benefit from Mark’s background as a member of the Victoria Police. Mark is also a qualified TAFE trainer with previous experience teaching at Swinburne University(TAFE). Mark delivers premium quality driver education and also holds a Certificate IV qualification in Motor car Training. Mark also has tertiary training in Engineeering.
In January 2010, Mark was recognised for his passion and committment to helping young drivers to become safe responsible drivers. As such Battersby Driving School was contracted to deliver driving lessons to a driver education program operated by Wesley Mission in the Eastern Region. The program, known as the L2P program, has now been operang for approximately 18 months and many youth, who are mostly in foster care, are receiving the best driver training and mentoring towards getting their licence. L2P programs provide government funded driving lessons and each young learner in the program is matched with a volunteer mentor supervising driver. Battersby Driving School has been recently contracted by another L2P program operated by Manningham Council.
At Battersby Driving School we take care to assess individual needs of each learner driver. Our instructors specialise in providing quality driver training to learner drivers. Our mission is to train learner driver’s in all aspects of driving and genuine pro active hazard perception driving skills.
We will tailor a training program that will not only ensure success on the drive test but more importantly set up a new driver for a lifetime of safe and efficient driving.
Benefit from the owner Mark’s experience as a Police Officer where he was trained to the highest driving standards. Mark is also qualified as a trainer and assessor.
Our instructors are qualified to Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training and are fully conversant with the recent Vicroads drive test criteria known as the Graduated Licensing System(GLS). Our training reflects the skills and system of driving required to reach GLS standard and beyond.
Our Vehicles used for training are 5 star ANCAP rated fitted with dual controls. Battersby Driving School is based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Our instructors will come to your home, school, office or other nominated location for lessons.
Our programs include on going support and advise for parents during the full course of the learners journey through to the drive test and beyond.
